Run 731 - Dripped on and Nick Rifleman Glastonbury

Rifleman’s Arms, Glastonbury

 Hares: Dripped On, Nick
Hounds: Why Bother, WAM, Grasshopper,   DtW, Brush Off, JB, Bigbird, Tenzing, Liz,  Mark, Withy.

Here we go round the Tor

Three runners just made it in time to hear the instructions, ‘two and on’. Also that there were some extra challenges, for those who wished to take them. The pack set off checking up and down the road before ‘on on’ was called. Not far to another check and we turned down Cinnamon Lane and then into a field where we discovered the extra challenges, an assault course! While some took up the challenge the rest of us just ran on past. After some more downhill we then turned back across fields up to the main road, where we again dodged the traffic before heading off again. We were now heading up hill and there were those that were keen to reach The Tor, and at each check were seen heading UP. Too steep for me.

Now for some easy road running before we were off across fields wondering how much further before the regroup. When it arrived beside some ancient oaks, it was only a short respite before we went up hill again! With strange noises coming from the left we passed the Tor again before dropping down into Glastonbury and a short run back to the pub.

The evening was not over yet. When we arrived in the bar the Hares were sitting at a table with home made cakes for us. They were delicious and I ate too much! Thanks Harriet and Nick.

Run 729 - Kingscliff Woods - Martini

Hounds:
Brush Off Grasshopper
Soc Ap Tenzing
Liz Phantom
P2L Chris joined late
Why Bother Nick
Dripped On DiTW
Baby Spice

Runners arrived at the carpark to Kingscliff Woods, as spots of rain fell. A foretaste of what was in store? Two search lights approached along track leading up to the car park, just nightriders passing by.  Tenzing welcomed back from touring Iberia.

Martini gave instructions: two and on, no wild animals.

Pack set off down track into woods, check, then scramble up bank, on on, circumvent fallen birch trees, nettles, check. Back on to track down steep slide, Dripped On rear cheeks now mud stained, but not deterred she checked ahead and led pack on in her wake. More checks, more steep scrambles, then long uphill on open path.

Arrived at regroup, jellys dispenced. “what no chocolate?” perhaps they don’t know what is good for them?

Through woods, across stream again, searching, checking. At last what we had missed the past few weeks, MUD. Lovely sticky squelchy mud, made up for not having chocolate.

On in, up long steady climb back to car park. On down to Globe Inn, North Petherton. Luckly they had tiled floors so did not mind wet trainers.

Thanks to Martini for marching us up to the top and marching us down again and again.

Run no 727 - Brush Off

(come on Why Bother .... try to remember!)

Hounds:  P2L, Why Bother.  Liz, Mark,  Chris, JB, DiTW, WAM!, Bigbird, Sorcerers Apprentice, Grasshopper, Phantom, Marcus, Justin, Withy. There for the beer, Bangkok

Quick briefing from the resident hare, Brushoff off we set left from the Lamb Inn, road junction and right along the road, check. Lots of shouting about nothing as usual and right across the slightly damp field and through a farm yard, check.
Right and on on called bit more road check and left and up and across to another check and field.
Now as usual this is where my goldfish brain can’t remember where we were or going so bit of o lottery now…… so along a track and check left to the road, right and along and down and up left and then….Marcus how long have you been hashing?? Well flour is flour not a “marker” and a check is a check not a ”junction” (I don’t know IT bods!). Then horses in the field yes on no? gate open or closed yes or no? Moving on and right to our re-group. Bit of a chat as usual and then an offer of singing from our resident operatic star WAM! Hummm don't think so on passed performance.
Bit more green fields
On inn and beer lovely run thank you Brushoff.
Ah forgot our faller P2L so bad she had to scrape the mud from her head torch!!
